If you want to rag me for telling the truth so be it. It changes nothing. I wasn't draging anyone anywhere they are where they were meant to be and did what they did. I did what I did because I was young and stupid and still trying to live it down in my own heart I was only sixteen.. I grew up. I realized what was real and what could and couldn't be changed. People look for lost one any where they can, if they care. I don't want kids to see only the fantasy of what we wanted things to be like. You have to tell both side to get the whole pix. What The Emmetts started to do was wonderful, but the drugs distroyed them and the dream. I'm not any sort of religouse fanatic to mention GOD. Sorry if that offends you. This is an open forum and kids can come in here and think it's cool to take hard drugs. I took every kind of durg there was back then and yes I did sirvive it. But not without the battle scars.. My mind is expanded as I care for it to get on drugs. I don't want my grdkids taking them. DO YOU?? Be honest. I mean no harm. I would just like to see the whole truth. I was with The Good Earth Commune from 70 to 73'. They had good ones and bad ones just like everywhere else. I admitt to the wrongs I have done in my youth. I'm not against any Digger. They fed me and clothed me and a lot of people. You can idealize the cause, but to idolize a man. It's bigger than that. Then just a man. No man is perfect on this earthly plane. No one man can claim the prize. You can call me names if you like. That and a dollar may get you a cup of coffee. But the truth is what it is and there is no excaping it. EVER. It will come out in the end. So why not just tell the whole truth in the beginning and then no one will have to tell it and get yelled at for doing so. If it has to be hidden and it infuriates you to hear it maybe your worshipness is misplaced. Is that what it was all about? Lying, deciving, and misleading people. Is that what we were trying to say to world. You tell me then. What was it all for. Apperantly we learned nothing. Look in the faces of your grandchildern and then decide. If your too young for grandchildern you won't know what I'm talking about anyway. If you see no good in my words I must have missed my mark with you. I was not a hippy I was a flower child and I WAS looking for GOD and the truth. Well I guess I have found out this truth. What are ya'll looking for. I mean really. I guess I'm on a different frequency. I still get high and belive that love is the most important thing there is. If I'm wrong then we are all doomed. Peace.. If this is a Godless community then I will never be part of it. Where do you get your love from? I really wonder. I feel sorrow for you all if you have no faith. Are we all one or just a chosen few.. sounds like what we were fighing against. What are the diggers doing now. you took the catbird seat. Who are you helping? everyone or just your click. If I asked to much by being, I can't apologise for that. Sorry for using your space to look for my lost tribe. They were not junkies either. That was not allowed in the commune. I got of that way before I joined the Good Earth. And I can't shove anything up my a$$ because my roids r out. Peace.. Nailcakes. P.S. I never mentioned any of Emmetts faults in my book.I gave him credit for the wonderful things he did do. It was the idea the intent.

Nailbake: do I read ya' right? Ya' come here beggin' the Diggers to connect ya' with some old junkies that ya' use to pan-handle with; then, ya' turn around and speak Ill of the dead by dragging a founding fathers' nuts through the dirt. What Are you smokin' these days? (and why??). DIGGERS FOREVER FOREVER DIGGERS. P.S. What commune were you in bed with?... Mormons or Penticostals??? Oh, by the way, ya' might not get to far in this neck of the woods by name-dropping the G-O-D word. Remember: WE CREATED OURSELVES. (God love us)...

I don't mean to stir any chit. But if your going to tell it like it was, then tell it like it really was, there are young eyes out there. If your gonna talk about woodstock or whatever and how beautiful it was there. YOU WEREN'T THERE. It was horrible a disaster. When ones speak of the beauty in the Haight. They weren't talking Merry Paranksters. Maybe the media just focused on radical behavior. I don't know. But as the ones that lived there in it, a different window was peered into. When power is intrusted to one human. That human becomes corrupt and uses that power unwisely, or for his on advantage. It happened to all that sirvived it. Leary was on the right track but was tempted by the flesh of young women, as was the Emmetts. They cut themselves off from the source and became all ego. They were lost to the garden. I hope you don't mind my thoughts. I am wrighting a manuscript on my EXPERIENCES in the Haight, a birds eye view of the real Haight St. in 66 -68 and a later book on my life in a commune of 500 hippies in 70-73'. If I offend anyone I will stop posting. Peace. Nailcakes

Mark: thank you for the cut n paste job. That was a good act,you have Love in you.. I tought I had registered tho. humm. I had just written a long post and I didn't see it posted again I hope it makes it in. I spent a lot of brain cells on it.. Maybe it's just me (too many miks of Owsley's in my youth). I hope you don't mind my posts. But I do hope you think about them. I don't know all the questions but I do know LOVE is the answer. I maybe just an ole granny but I lived the hard way, through experience and the hard knocks along the way. I took what I learned and am using it now. I waisted many preceiouse years shooting drugs in my arms. Thank you Emmett.. I recovered and changed my life for the good of mankind. At least try to help. I'm not a fanatic or anything I still smoke GOD's medicine. Peace. Nailcakes

G'mornin', I have been reading the post here and there about the Diggers. You say you have visited The Haight and have pix, that you hung with the big dogs, so to speak. and you want to carry on and honour him like he was the second comming of Christ. did you really know this man. If you had a young daughter would you want her to be with a man like Grogan or a prankster. Do you really think it's cool to stick needles in sixteen year olds girls arms and pump them full of heroin and then pass them around in the name of free love. To tear down the government is unrealistic. The whole world would collapse. If your are looking for the Truth, then tell the Truth. You glorify a man that wanted to cause distruction upon mankind. I would not want a man like Grogan to represent me or my points of view. You say he changed or started a movement.I say he gave the movement a black eye. Emmett was not a kind and loving person. He had no power to heal the sick or to change the hearts of men. He had no respect for anything or anybody. He did not talk of GOD or teach the childern to Pray. He taught them to hate and distroy what they didn't agree with. But isn't that what America based on. Freedom to live life in a constructive positive way, Peacefully in harmony with nature. This man was a hypocreit and a theif. He prayed upon the innocents of youth and corrupted souls with poison. All in the name of what. What did he have to replace it with, a long line in front of his place to hand out rags and left overs. Hand out hard drugs to kids and freak them out. The Gov. cannot be changed by a mear man. It would take an act of GOD to change things. It would have to be done over a matter of time. Our childern and their childern will be the ones to change things. TEACH YOUR CHILDERN WELL. Teach them love and respect of one another. Teach them that DRUGS KILL. Teach them that if man has tampered with it, it is poison. Teach them to grow their own and to stay with what GOD provides and respect the Earth Sky and Oceans. Teach them diginty and humility. Teach them in a positive way to be positive. Shine THE LIGHT on the darkness. Help your neighbor and harm on one. The old War Mongers will be bred out of mankind, but it will take more than one generation span to make it happen. I see kids doing hard drugs everyday. I see young girls in Jr. High giving oral sex and say it's the same as kissing.I see gangs killing and raping.Taking what they want by force so they can get more drugs. I see all our jobs and money going to illeagle alliens and over seas to help the big companys to save a few bucks, while our kids go on food stamps. What are WE teaching our Childern. It takes a village to raise a child. It's up to all of us to make sure our kids know the truth and change the way things are being done. Education is the answer and education starts at home. Dont let our kids become useless dregs on soceity. Mind blown by age of thirteen or our young girls sexulay worn out by sixteen. You may think me a traitor to the movement, but I lived the movement in The Haight, I was part of it and knew the Diggers, Ken Kesey, Peter Coyote and the Pranksters. I was there long after Grogan O.D.'d. It wasnt Grogan that carried on, he was just riding the train and jumped off in the middle. He was not driving the train. I am not bragging about what I have done, I'm just trying to say that Grogan did harm not good and then bailed out. The ones that were left had to clean up his mess and live with ( or down ) what he did or rather how he did it. All I'm looking for is the TRUTH. I was sixteen when I hit the Haight and on n off till I was twentysix. I saw the Good the Bad and the Ugly of the Haight. I saw the people pull together and clean up the Haight and work with the community to rebuild instead of tear down. I belive Grogans and I do mean plural, were detramental to the Peace Movement. I don't want to live in a world where the people are all so dope phucked they can't write their own names. I do belive that we are free to choose to partake in what ever GOD has provided us with. I don't belive in taking man made durgs made by spaced out junkies or corrupt drug companys. Our spirits can't take it. We become zombies and just want for more drugs to excape. Excape freom what? Ourselves as we poison our mind, body and souls. Is that getting back to the garden, is that what you want our grandchild to face growning up. I see kids on here looking for ACID.. Well there is no LSD-25 any more. What they sell as LSD is rat poison. I would kill a mo' fuk er who gave my kids or grdkids rat poison. WAKE UP and smell the CRANK. What are the kids looking for. Do they take drugs to open their mind, to find GOD and the TRUTH. or just to get fuk'ed up and freak out. Is that what we want our country to be. You kids can never bring back the sixties, never, it's gone and done. It was the times it was GOD/Creator who called us out to be counted. We stood up and were counted. We were told to teach our childern well. Did we. Did you. Were we all so mind blown we didn't hear HIM calling to us to LOVE one another and to stop fighting. It was the drugs that got in the way, that sealed our ears from hearing, blinded our eyes from seeing and covered our mouths from speaking the Truth. We were truly caught in the devil's bargan and were tossed out of Eden conciousness and into Babal conciousness. Babal was distroyed and their tribe demolished. The Truth still carries on to this day. But not with drug induced physoco-babble. But with clear thought and Faith in one's self. I leave you with this thought. Who is to blame for the way our kids think. Who is it that really sets the example. We have to have some sort of order or we're all gonna get robbed, raped and killed. We have to have Government to take care of the details and we need supervision. I would be afraid to see what would happen if there was no athority. That's all I can say right now only my OP. Peace . I hadn't heard about all the changes--but, when did the digger forum seek to become all three branches of the government rolled into one--with no appeal process--in flagrant disregard of the right to due process--Gee, peel away the tarbaby to find the Hippie Homeland Security Act. Surely Eileen, you must have other concerns about these changes than just their increasingly complex proceedures...................Travis.....UAW/MF

Just happened to run into this website and started checking into it. I used to work with a guy in Indiana that I think was part of this original group, and wondering if anyone knows of him or his whereabouts. We got along well and I'd like to know how he's doing. He told the greatest stories. His name was Andy Morris. He told me he knew Jack K. personally, was even in "On the Road" but under a pseudonym that he wouldn't tell me. Had stories about Rita Mae Brown and being in NYC in someone's apartment near the Park and it blew up due to the harboring of some explosives. He hid underground for awhile. Lived in the Haight-Ashbury area for awhile. Had a girlfriend named Sonny, don't know if he still does. And great friend named Jerry in NYC. Don't know if any of you know Andy, but if you do and are in touch, please tell him hello and I still think of him and hope he's okay. Thanks for giving me a place to ask. Keep up the good work, let's just make sure we educate the children, because they won't remember.

Hey man, one time i was digging in the great grains of the pug region of pubics. That's where i first encountered my first honey bear. He was full of bright giggle and shrp whit. But i took him down like a stripper on state fair corn dogs and crystal meth. So i took one look at him and knew he hadn't come form the patch of courn i was looking for. So i threw baks from where from i gots him and said, "yonder be the most beautiful bride these eyes ever beholded." And i married her without a second thought. These days that takes some serious commitment. To know that you'll never look back and always wash the disshes if you abosultely have to. And now we've reached my frist point about dishes. They're often dirty and they're somtimes clean. What i usually like to cook with my dishes is bread with kidney and noodles. i keep my noodles on the side and my women in the sack. Four times i played roll over with this one youngun that had twice the cove of an elephant mistress. by the end of the fourth, i was 1 layer short of a skinned rhino. Imagine how that feels in the morning following three shots of bourban and about 27 cakes of danderfluff. Well, the kitchen is cooking and the knocker's a knockin' so i better answer before they have me on the wall of that 10 cent grocery store! Check out them taters! Astas. www.HisforHat.com

I had some of the most unrememberable times of my young life at Morningstar. Seriously I only have flashes of memory for those times. But I am so delighted I was there whenever it was and took part in all of it, including events in the city. But what happened? Where did we all go and who did we all become? Anybody know? We are here at the Most Posts. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mostposts/ Write to me at: tomlaureld@yahoo.com or at: morningstar@laurelrose.com there are about 50 or more in this group that were there for a couple of week to years and years. There are even more who know about the group that will not sign up. It has always been different strokes for us so our minds move in every way. Some of us are well off and some of us are just scraping. There is a bond and a vibe that cannot leave this mind of man Peace Tomas

John, Grogan was co-founder of the San Francisco Diggers. Probably the best thing to do is to go to the headings at the top of this page and put your cursor on "History". A drop down menu will appear from which you can click on different aspects of the Diggers. This is an extensive site with much to look at and read. Use the url http://www.diggers.org/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=3 above to go to the current discussion page. Hope that helps.

I have a book titled "RINGOLEVIO" (I think the spelling is correct). I've probably read this book at least a dozen times with each time getting more out of it. To the best of my recollection-this probably gives a pretty accurate description of life, attitudes, and general patern of life in and around the '60's. The term "Diggers" was used in the book. The book was done through one person's eyes-I think it was Kenny Wisdom/aka Emmett Grogan. I spent a little time in the Bay area doing my thing with the USN, and some of the things I read about in the book was reality. Perhaps someone in your org has read this book and could shed some insight into what is true and what is imagined.

Eileen, I left a reply on the new Guestbook forum asking for everyone to look at the Syzygy site and comment on it. Sorry you're finding the new forum software complicated. If you go to the link below, it's got a listing for "The New Guestbook" topic. You'll see there are little icons for the pages of messages. You can jump to the last page directy. The messages, by default, are sorted oldest to newest. (There's a drop down list that will sort the way we're used to seeing them here, but it's not the perfect solution. I'm still trying to see if I can make the default the way we all are used to.) Here's the link: http://www.diggers.org/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=3 After you're looking at the replies, to add a message, just click "Reply to Topic". Then your new message will appear at the bottom of the list. Hope this helps, Eric

So far I haven't been able to get in...rejecting my e-mail address as not being valid...and it is so I don't know what's up with that...and I've had some trouble with those forum things, because they aren't linear...if that's the right thing to call it. Too many options to open...and then I get lost...but I can learn...if I can get in there. Help?

EEERRRIIIICCC!!!! Hey, I just got the news from the other page about why everyone is congratulating you. It went over my head. I must be thick, because I didnt pick it up on this page. When did it come down?...Shit, thats terrific. Hey Dig this. The Methodists are so cool (some anyway).. at a local KC church they are NOT going to marry ANYONE. Ya' see, they say unless marriage is ALL-Enclusive, they will not deny ANY of their congregation in any way. Its ALL or Nothin'. Its a new age folks. Wake up and smell the ... well...smell..the... Lost my train of thought. Anyway, The Idea is to push through and make it State Law. My Lady Rev has been puttin' her ass on the line for years marrying anyone who has the notion. It's a PEOPLE thing. People get married. Whats the big deal? I like Marriage. Im' the marrying kind. Buuurrrp; hey honey, you wanna' get Eric and Joe another beer?

Hey Ohio Girl, check out yer' home-states' own "Cult of the phychic Fetus". Like I said; they were my pick at the Death Jam last year. It was last year right? Eric, congratulations!! I've been following that story on CNN and it had me missing living in San Francisco's activism, where even sometimes the (LOCAL!!!) government does the right thing. And then how beautiful to hear that this benefitted you personally. What a happy Valentine's Day for sure. I'm off to my first day on day shift here very soon, but when I get home I'll try to figure out about logging in a new way. Is that for this guestbook here, or is this guestbook going to be transferred minus mugu???? Nicole thanks for the healing vibes and thoughts. I have seven weeks of treatment to go, alot of side effects wearing me down lately but at the same time, I feel how my underlying health has gotten good again, I feel virus-free. And according to the last viral blood test, I am virus-free. The trick is to stay that way, not relapse. I was given a (Christian) prayer, Lord, please complete the healing that was begun in me. I think you would know far better than me, the herb to plant for this. Thanks. Eileen thanks for saying my generally negative reaction to rap doesn't mean I am old!!!!! I do like some of it, and I liked some of the early stuff like Public Enemy. Jag and Mark, gansta jihad rap, yikes! Bring on the Stones or Donovan or something... Steve thanks for the laughter over the ex-wives. To everyone, Peace

Steve, You need to create your own password on the new site. First, go to the new site by clicking on the link that Eric put on this list. Then click "register" and follow the instructions for registering. The least you have to do is fill in the info in the boxes with the red asteriks beside them. You can use your first name as the user and make up a password for yourself then type these items in along with your email address, that is your address. Each time you go to the board you will need to "log in" with your user name and the password you made for yourself. If you have trouble come back here and I will watch for your post and help you through it.

P.S. Im' in good company. My Lady Rev. was in Berkely back in 68. She's a 1950 baby. I cant hold a candle to her. Theres still a program down town that she spear-headed. It feeds 500 hungry folks a day. Not to shabby. Her works will surely follow her. (as surely as I do) Hubba-Hubba.

Checked out the new page but cant' log on, as I dont' know whats with the password thing. Im' on a Methodist Minister's computer and it's (her) password is a big mystery. (Is that the pass word that you require? If so; no dice. but can check it ot from time to time and enter in-put (or out-put) on this page. Well, the china cabinet should be done in a couple of days and so should I. Then, Its on to greener pastures. (sure wish she had some more un-painted furniture).. Playing house here is a dream that Id' rather not wake up from. Thats life. May be back here one o' these ol' days if things fall into place. I wonder how New York City has gotten alone without me?...Oh; Nik, speaking of NYC, did you see me on the 6:00 News a couple weeks ago? It was a piece that (Channel 4 I think) did on the "Homeless) of NYC. I didnt' catch it but last time that I swung into the Peace Church a gal said that she had. Anyway, we were all made to spend an extra hour freezing our nuts off outside of McAuleys (It's new name is the NYC Mens Shelter) in order for the crew to set up. Jerry McAuley started it after he got out of prison in the 1800's. Real History. They may have a web site. Anyway, ah...I gave a news lady from another channel who interviewed me about a week before that a note to pass to you all here on this web site. Nice Gal, dont look like she found her way here. (or maybe like the weak-at-heart didnt get past the intro. I get the feeling that the whole gist of the thing rubs some folks raw. Well, back to the paint! Carry on.

Hammond, So, I looked at the new Forum software, and I think I've been able to create a new "Topic" that will have a single list of messages. If you want to link to this new page (which I'm calling The New Guestbook) it's here: http://www.diggers.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12

Eric - I registered and thanks. This will make things spam easier for you. The only obvious drag here (to me) is that we must click/read/click/read each message individually in the new Forum vs. being able to read everyone's posts at one click - and with references in between in one area (here) to numerous posts - Or is there a way on the new Forum to read everything all on one page? Also - I think the new forum will make it hard to refer back to other posts if you can't remember who wrote it - but I suppose we will get used to it? ------- What's everyone one else think?

New Forum software installed!!! I have been looking to find something to replace the Free Frame of Reference and also this Guestbook. We've been getting so much spam, and the new servers don't format paragraphs. Therefore, I've setup a new Forum area, and if it works for everyone, I will phase out this page. Here's the link: http://www.diggers.org/forum/default.asp -- Everyone has to register, but the registration process is very simple. Please feel free to leave any suggestions. Right now there is just one "Forum" setup but we could have any number.

So, not a Digger, but from the time; lived over on Nob Hill in a group house down an alley. One of our lot, who many days campaigned for President from a soapbox in Union Square, went to live with the Diggers, I believe, after losing his job at Otis Elevator (going down?). His name was Marty Mills, but, well, the Mills part may have been a political expediency...would anyone on this list happen to remember him? We've managed to reconnect most of the old group, but Marty remains only a lot of good stories at the moment.

Happy "V-D". Hey Nik; I just re-read that winter impression that the Down East town had on ya. Im' half sold. Saw it all on the wide screen in between my ears. Wanted to turn up the sound but cant find the volume. Theres also an area at the tip of Wesconsin (right on the lake) that I may research. It snugs up against the ass end of Michigan's upper penninsula if memory serves me. (dont' tell me ya' been there!)...please! P.S. this year is my "Search and Discover year"... thats why Im' hoping that this K.C. thing isnt' a false start. Im' torn between pitching camp and skinnin' out. As is; I consider the NYC McAuley's mission "Base Camp". Its like I indicated to some of the "Street Elite" (the hard-core gamblers)... I wrote; "We all lived our lives backwards, one way or another; as...well; here we are, in our 50's and 60's and all living in a fuckin' Orphanage". Aint' it the way? Goodnight all.

valintines day resurrection of love for survival. The time has come to "break the chains." boycotting the chain stores will result in working class freedom. The time has come again to resurrect the diggers myth through the centuries. As america, europe slumps into depression and general joblessness, via globalisation, giving up manufacturing to china and services to english speaking india; communal necessity arises for the young, middle age, and old--working class who have no inheritence to depend upon. Education, pensions, medicare and social security is in the process of being ransacked via legislation for the rich 10%. Be passive not!! The remedy is relatively easy with intelligence, focus, dicipline, cosmopolitan open mindedness. Your survival, happiness and challenge is to form groups in each large city worldwide. Charters and rules are necessary for group survival, but the rules have to be flexible and inclusive. that is the challenge. otherwise, you are lost within yourself, aka yuppie self delusion--a small speculator in a rigged market. Group balance sheets, income statments and cash flow statemets are necessary, learning economics of the group is necessary - the strong have to go get income, and the expenses have to be sparse. this is not for all personalities. dicipline is necessary and a vision poetic is a possible anchor. perhaps futile for the young undicplined, energetic young. Get rid of the tv and get an efficient vehicle to start the new interaction. good luck. Secular story is key, old and new testiment is death, in my opinion. see northrop frye "the secular scripture." a hard read but a door to enlightening, in my opinion. peace.....

http://www.ipnews.planetgac.com/ I haven't watched this yet cause you need a good connection , broadband prefered, which I have at home but it can be accessed with a dial up which takes time but should be worth the effort. (I'm in hotel and will wait to watch it tomorrow but from what I read it should be a trip. "The video you are about to watch is a rap video designed to inspire people to take up jihad against the West. Posted on a radical Islamic website based out of the United Kingdom, the video is undeniably entertaining, as professionally produced as any video you might see on MTV. Consider the irony: radical fundamentalism, sworn to destroy Western culture and beliefs, uses that culture to market its hate. Paralleling the same deception, the Islamic organization that produced and marketed this video claims to be an Islamic "human rights" group but in reality is a group sworn to support the killing of Jews, Christians and moderate Muslims. This offering is only the first of many to come from IP News Service. Additionally, this is only a temporary web site, soon to be replaced by a permanent site. Stay tuned." I don't purport to agree with this but in a cultural sense this should be a real eye opener. A gangsta rap video for Islamic fundamentalists. Gangsta jihad!!!

Jag~I'm really enjoying the Hot Tuna music CD after the torture of the history of all our gains of the womens movement etc etc political movements of the 50's and 70's just to realize we are sliding the slippery slope. Yeah I guess I'm not quite as liberated from the mud hole as I like to think and I just get upset and pissed off enough to think of retalliation for sure. Yeah Mark you said it all. Figure the only real reason to hang onto the past is if the present hasn't come up to speed. Then there's the imagined future. Damn challege to stay present long enough to enjoy it or tweek it to our choice of flavors. Ha! picked up your paint brush aye? Put it all away out of sight. You can put your favorite brushes out in a vase like flowers and just enjoy them and more on. Yeah I'm looking at my clay and moving around my carving tools and wood blocks. Cutting legs off my bed instead. You know I have no idea how anyone stays in a house..or a relationship yr after yr. I swear I would go so out of my mind and the house at the very least would be torn apart on a regular basis. Ah Steve you and I are very much the same breed. Had the best dream in ages the other night. Gypsy wagons all over the place..one that was even made to float. Yesterday I spent an hr trying to maintain and not just start screaming and screaming. But that's another story. It was just one of those days when the predictibilty of one day to the next about had me cornered. One leg almost sawed off. What are the bets I can get all done? Mark hope you make it over for tea and crumpets some time soon. That's quite an agenda you got planned.

Hey, all -- Joseph and I took the opportunity afforded by San Francisco's new Mayor, who ordered the County Clerk to begin offering same-sex marriage licenses, to get hitched after 32 years together. The ceremony was under the gold dome of City Hall in the Rotunda, on the steps of the Grand Staircase. The very steps where the protesters were water-hosed by the SFPD in 1960 at the HUAC hearings, and where the Diggers held Free City Poetry readings in 1968. Strange that we've come full circle and now are on the inside looking out. It was a touching moment.

Eileen and Steve, Our back pages are missing some entries. I think selective memory and mythologized remembrance has purpose rooted in psychic survival. Being able to cut the past loose at will is a talent of the fortunate. I hear folks jump up and down about going to a High School Reunion and how great it all was. No thanks, I can still remember how fucked up it really was and I don't need any help ferreting out those finer nuances of humility. Being a recovered Catholic kinda sets the stage for a few of us. If you can't remember it, there is probably a frickin' good reason for it. On the flip side, I have cut and run so many times it began to be a lifestyle. Ending up isolated from the main goings on and being outside has its pleasures and its annoyances. How to be an observer/participant is not easy to learn. For example, I have thought often of letting go of Planet Drum and moving off in my own sphere but I sometimes feel like it is a lifeline. Hell, I even find the Director General likable at times. The energy in my small world is changing and there is at the least new stimulus headed this way. Still staring at the unfinished canvas started some months ago, actually picking up a brush and looking at it (the brush) today. Ain't much but its a start. Planning a road trip east this spring out to around Memphis or Kentucky and then back down Highway 61 or whats left of it to the Delta. Maybe head back along the Gulf Coast to Corpus Christie and Padre Island. Might go north then up to Denver and across the Rockies back to the Bay Area. 23rd anniversary tomorrow, I insisted on getting married on Valentines Day the second time around. That memory thing got me in some deep pucky when I kept forgeting the anniversary for the first marriage. Hey, I dropped a couple birthdays along the way. Got in an arguement with a close friend and my wife a decade or so back about how old I was till I pulled out my drivers license and I was proven wrong. I am still tryin' though. Musta been all the hits of THC I geezed back in the day. Try that with a little cheba on the side and its your own private ICU. You are all my Valentines. Yes, Eileen the weather sucks here today too.

Steve~Being lost in the pages of history is not a lot different than my memory that got left behind in the bushes somewhere. At least you were there and can remember what happen or what you thought happen. I have to have friends tell me I was even there and I'm always..Oh yeah? I think I've about chucked so much baggage I can barely keep up with what I've lost. If you get what I'm saying. Present is way more interesting. Just like my art..I am looking for fresh blood. Trombone?.. I woulda' remembered that. No...After returning the Ranch was way off kilter due to Coyote's absence. He showed and blew his top at some shot-gun antics. " Sing it!".. all together now:...Mammy dont' want no Live-Rounds fired in the front room around here" Anyway,.. I can see his point now,.. but I got a shot gun story about him. (in the same room) Course; I memorize things that I see as well as what I feel; and cant distinguise the two.. (often)...ah...I was around long enough to spead the word about Hendrix (Sept 16??) anyway, from there I headed to Elvin Bishop's house and went full swing throughout the Bay area and surrounding hills on what we (I) refered to as the Studabaker 6X6. What a truck full of crazies. Ah... it was the same truck that Coyote had done a brake job on in the dark one night. I helped him a bit. (I was the tool caddy). Big rumble at Black Bear though; in reference to some truckers "Freeing" up some goods for "The People". (they were the people.. get it?.) Not from our camp. Back to the painting. Later

Steve, Were you part of the crew getting the trucks ready for the caravan? I have seen some home (skin) movie film of that effort, it has great shots of Eileen and Ariel, JP and his family and the amazing unfolding truck house he built. I don't get to see this stuff very much but there was a great sequence of about 3 parked trucks, Bergs was one and Coyote had one as well as JP. There were kids running around with one truck jacked up getting serviced while a very stoned impromptu band was playing the flat bed of one with a long blackhaired fellow shirtless playing a trombone and laughing so hard I couldn't keep a straight face. I showed up in the spring of 70 at BBR but was gone by fall. Never got back until a couple of years ago to sniff around what was left.

Hey Claude; Im' still a kid. I turn 52 in July. Ah.. I hit Olema Ranch toward the end of the summer of 1970. I had blown out there from Ed Sherman's place on Eddy Street in the Tenderloin. (Olympia Apts.) Willow street ran behind it. Ah... I accompanied an aspiring actress called "Stash". (and her young daughter). I made fast-friends w/ J.P. and worked off of his contact speed high to helped him on his 24 Hr. marathons of setting up the "Olema Ranch Flea Market" that season. "Big Doin's" Later around early Sept. sometime, I migrated up to Back Bear Ranch to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox. Rode up with the female fanction on the Oakland School Bus. We grabbed it from the house that J.P. had stashed all of his family goods. Together with a crew from another ranch we rallied under the invisible banner of "The Olema People". We made a real good showing at B.B.R.: as the Olema campsite was "Where it was at". Now that being said; Being where its at within a place that was where it was at is a real double whammy. Kinda "Where-where-its At-at" Although the Hells Angels among us kept all but the brave at heart at bay, it was a mellow (as in yellow) family outing. Not aturd in the bunch. You may not have picked me out of the crowd as I tended to stick close to the gals, kids & Angels. (hows that for polarity? Anyway; I did spend alot of time trippng by myself out in the yonder. Stuck mostly to the stream. (still do, but their called Avenues and streets now. Later.

Ah wellll... Rip-Off??...I ah.. did "Misplace" Coyote's braided rim felt hat. (but that was sortof a ritual kinda thing). I.. well, I kinda left it as an offering (along with my American Flag stockings) at the base of a large talking (well it kinda' whispered..Honest!) moss covered boulder, which was high on a ridge above a utillity road which led toward the Three Forks of the Salmon approx. far enough not to hear big twins rev up from the Olema camp at BlackBear Ranch. (directions vaughe enough for ya??)..Ahh.. I always felt edgy about that. (the hat... not the talking rock). Hell; those woods were full of em'. (rocks, I mean)..I was always fascinated about the bottle that Owl had discovered growing in a tree. I had a wild notion of finding it some day. (There in lies a poem for sure. Eileen, don't know if you remember the Hamill brothers...friends of Emmettts in Brooklyn, Brian took a liking to Nina, the photographer brother, and Denis, who told "sticky stories" about a dog as big as a subway, with a nose that could smell a lie...anyway I just had lunch with Denis, I saw his column in the NY Daily News so I e-mailed him, he called and we met today...first time in over 20 years, anyway...one of the guys took lots of super 8 film during the course of that one summer at Turkey Ridge and put them on a disk...so he's going to e-mail them to me...I'll send them along to you if you like.............Also I e-mailed Loretta Klein to ask for her number and told her about you and the cards...so I'll e it to you as soon as I recieve it. .......I would looooovvvveeee some sage. ps LIFE IS GOOD.

Steve - ya old floor cat you....the rafters were more psychedelic that the lights on the walls in those daze - fingerpainting, toepainting and eye-balling whatever colored gooping on pyrex dishes. The Chetah scaffold and light crew was the most fun of any of the clubs then - Whiskey included - and largely due to one of the leading lights being a home land chemist at large. Always colorful - always pure fanciful fun projected everywhere.... Such clear the head days when "bad trips" were mostly for the straights who never dropped. Freshly illegal on the outside - but still quite legal on the inside. Contamination was headed our way - then the Chetah burned to the ground along with near-by POP (Pacific Ocean Park) - which for my dollar was the coolest amusement park around - the first to have an admission price that included all the rides - over and over again..... Head friendly to the max compared to the likes of Knotts and Disney....

Nicole~Might be able to help you there. I have sage I gathered as we were fleeing Questa at the end of June..I think that's one of the time it's at its best. Did you read my note below to you about Miranda's cards? Claude~ just read your moment of winter to Miranda and we agreed we are more than glad to be here bitching about the damp chill. Yes NM's lack of real winter I found unpleasantly bleak. Where the real thing meant you better know your neighbors cause you were going to need them to help get out of some hole or another before it was over. Nope can't say it causes me longing any more. Boy that was a long love affair! Eliminates at least ONE place I don't think I need to be. But I just hate the winter here. It sucks in it's own way and it's HI nxt time around. Got myself locked in here this round or I'd be doing the hula. (Next time won't be going on JUST a wing and a prayer.) Looks to be that huge-O storm that's been hanging off the coast is finally making it's way in. Where at the calm before the storm stage that always gets me high. But it's been too dry here coast too and our water that's from a spring is starting to taste nasty..bottled water until I get a filter.

Claude, Is the Dodge 4x4 you speak of the one that was at Black Bear in 1970? I remember one being parked there but it wasn't used while I was around. I was at the Ranch a couple of years ago and rummaged around in the Black Bear vehicle graveyard and there are some old junkers that are still decaying down the road about a 100 yards from the main house. Due to the remote location I think that they will never get be moved. Must be 10 or so vehicles, mostly pickups, in a heap of parts and body shells. I looked for the Dodge 4x4 but I couldn't recognize it.

Jag: Just got a pick-up notice from the Post Office yesterday, but I din't go in to get it because of the snow today. Hope that's it, I had just remembered you were gonna send it. Eileen: thanks for the intro to Steve. A lot of our scavenging trips to town back in those days are now just a blur. We would come in off the road (8 hours in a 1953 Dodge M-37 Truck, Cargo, 4x4, 3/4 Ton, 50 mph maxed out down Hiway 101, the legendary Army Truck) and after our months of isolation up on the Land, we were pretty crazed. Did any of you folks ever meet Bill Buck? (William Benson Buck III) I'd love to hear someone else's take on the guy. He died around 1970, still quite young at the time, lived in Mill Valley. He put out a lot of money for some good causes. We're in the icy grip of the Arctic Express, a blast of cold air sweeping down the Plains along the Front Range of the Rockies. Never got above 16 degrees all day, and at sundown it plunged right down to zero. Roads are iced over, snow is drifting. Coldest night of the winter tonight. Haven't seen zero for a few years. Not that that's anything like what it has been in some years, but this winter has been mostly a non-event, January was wierdly warm. There's been little snow; the most we've seen so far is out there right now and it's five inches. Steve: In my experience, Claudes are pretty rare; I've only met a couple of them and they tend to be strange. My paternal grandfather, who I never met, was a Claude down in Mobile Alabama. Some kind of capitalist, i gather, from the little I know of him, but strange enough to have left a big chunk of his fortune to his housekeeper back in the 70's. (trying for paragraphs here)

Steve~Go to "archives" and find Communication Company for a (very)minor intro of Claude. Maybe you might remember Claude and Helane on one of their rare visits, showing up with baby/s? always leaving with anything that wasn't nailed down..including some stuff that was. Both dark (both with long black hair and dark clothes) and hella spooky looking..Helane out of some swamp book doing really tripped out hand sewn clothes at that point, in the rough patched together style I expect the Civil WAr soldiers were sewn together with. Very intense pair coming in from Covelo. Were you there when the snatch of human hair that looked like a scalping showed in a plastic bag was left at the door? Turned out to be a pig skin Helane thought I might want to tan. yeah right. Ha ha! Claude want to take it from there? Claude~Steve was a youngun at Olema that slid under the radar..none of us have been able to recollect clearly since he didn't threaten to shoot anyone, rip anyone off, go off with anyone's old lady, or make an unforgivable mess in the kitchen, but has enough clear memories there's no doubt our loss of brain cells is the problem. Don'tcha just hate that?

Steve, I met a dude a few years back who was in his late 70's, Ukranian and in the Hitler SS as a concentration camp guard. Never thought I could know or tolerate a concept like that but the man I knew was a simple and if not kind at least nice man. He was generous and never had a bad word if he liked you, he was also pretty paranoid about some stuff but I chalked it up to immigration worries. Alex Housa or some such name is what I knew him as and the tales he told! Nineteen when the Nazi's occupied his homeland, gave him a "Sophies Choice" kind of ultimatum, join or watch your family suffer. He was a blond haired blue eyed "aryan" and as such was eligible for membership in Hitlers elite squad of sadist's. He still harbored alot of bigotry and intolerance but masked it well and never insulted a soul nor spoke a word in the presense of a minority. It was after they left that he would drop a small innuedo or slur, never overt always slightly dispariging and always civilized. I know it sounds bizarre but I liked the guy. I went to a lions club charity event he hosted for Ukranian orphans after the fall of the Soviet Union and he was on his best behavior. Would have thought he was Ghandi for all the BS he ladled out all for a good cause!! Any way what I mean is you never know the truth about a person unless they want to let you in on their innermost secrets. I couldn't believe he was willing to tell me what he did but for some reason he trusted me and I did have a morbid fascination with his story. This guy was a fount of WW II stories all from the other side.

Ah... dont remember much... the light shows always had catchy names.. I could connect if I had a Filmore Poster book etc. Very primitive stuff then; fingers protruding out of pails of oil, au... lenny bruce type lone ranger cartoons,..ah... weird stuff. Never did climb the platfolms or get into the booths etc. I was a main floor cat. Plant my ass on the floor and sure as shit both legs would fall asleep... I may have mentioned that once... what.???.. ahh... hey, I got a real dose of "Normal" tonight. I forgot how the other half (make that 99%) live. Its all so basic. I drank three types of wine, visited Wal-Mart etc. This middle america is very soothing. Nobody is keyed up. Never realized what a coil-spring-Hair-Trigger-tension that the NYC street scene constantly reverbarates. Not sleeping w/ my goods under my pillow is a real break. Not showering w/ 65 other cats who have more tattoos than I do or shitting with privacy is a break also. I seem to go to extremes. That being said: I like this end of the spectrume. Hey Claude:.. I like your' name. Ah.. the only Claude I can remember was Claude Shwobe. (German) He had two strikes against him: One: he was Germanic during the 40's. Two: He was not "In the Service". (Big Hush-Hush.)He was bummed out for being called a "Slacker" during the big one; when he was actualy working at Oak Ridge Tenn. (before it was officially on any maps). Ol' Claude was a nuclear Physisist for Uncle Sam on the Q.T. He helped put the final touches on the bomb. He was in a graduating class at one point w/ Kissinger. (dont know what his Major was??!! Anyway, The Claude I knew must be long gone. His experimental film work was out of sight. Filmed me naked in the Russian River doing card trick (yes w/ a deck of cards) back in the early summer of 1970. He payed me a very high compliment. After finding out what everyone was into (Heavy drugs)... (after a few funerals).. he said: "Ya know Steve...I never worried about you." Now that really made it in my book. And on that note. Folks: I aint worried about you all. Claude... ya... good name. Ah.. gonna hand paint a china cabinet for the Lady Rev. in the A.M. A simple Year of the Monkey, Dragon-Lady-Tiger motif...you know.. Ol' gypsy style. Music? ... Gimmi Bad Company's live version of "Young Blood" ... that opens my nose every time. Hey, I can see the stars out here at night....odd.

Nicole~Miranda has just put together a set of cards that we are anxious to see if your friend will be interested. Would you let us know how to proceed? I'm always left pondering and chewing on ideas, while beauty just pours from Miranda's fingers with such ease she leaves me in the dust..it's always been the case. The girl is truely gifted. Nicole+Jag~Sunday will have time to finally kick back and catch up on such things as the pleasure of CD's from both of you (while I carve wood blocks). // I spend my free time preparing designs for the next class. I am trying to make a leap in my work and it is always tempting to ease up and just work with what I have already done. And as I said, until I can find my new route, I do tend to have to grind it out. I'm working in such "set" mediums..especially the print making. I am pressed to be more exacting than I am normally comfortable with. And that, as well as weaving and ceramics is so time consuming I want to be sure where I'm going before I put my hand to it. The ceramics (throwing) is blowing out my hands and I have decided to start working in another manner. Will tell you about it next wk. I don't expect the teacher is going to approve. // Ohio Girl~Your comments on rap made me laugh. They used to be like the newspapers of the streets..now they're for the most part abusive and nasty..and the vidoes? Give me a break! Yeah, I'm Old School and intend to stay there. But have you heard Outkast?! I got to say they're totally hot!!http://www.outkast.com/

Nicole, that was me re: Garcia/Grisman CD. I'll check out that new one when it gets here, Thanks. Finally got a little snow here; we've been so deprived that 4" is a big deal. Records show that we recieved 7" of precip. in 2003 (rain + melted snow). That's dry. Does seem to be some snowpack building in the high country, which will keep our Pecos Trickle rivering enough to fill the acequias this summer. Last year we didn't even get our summer monsoon. Finally got the cross-fencing completed and we now have a small herd of neighbor's cows pastured in there until the asparagus sprouts this spring. Did I ever mention our asparagus? All you can eat for a month or so when it happens, no stalking required. I think it's the heaviest stand of wild asparagus I've seen anywhere. The neighbor trades us some range-raised beef for the grazing. Our refuge still available here for quiet-seekers. Low-stimulus zone. Few radio/TV signals find their way down into our canyon, and our elusive resident Great Blue Heron is still surviving. First grandchild due in three weeks. (It's a boy, they say.) SSB (Seldom Seen): Welcome back, though I don't think we ever met. We def trod the same streets, tho.

Jag, the music is outstanding. How profound this morning, listening to Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home" and thinking about the very young Rolling Stones hearing that and how music is always evolving itself. My husband set off for work, I've got a few days off in the midst of changing what shift I work, I've started digging on some coffee and Howard Zinn....... The other day someone lent my husband a CD rap compilation. Well I always liked some rap music but listening to a whole bunch of it in a row I wanted to rip someone's head off, maybe mine. Is this a sign of age or what? I never cared how dark and ominous the Doors got for example, nevermind if it oppressed my parents back them. Times they are a changin' I guess. Steve I like hearing what you've got to say. Nicole I so much enjoyed the description of the wintertime Maine beach. Peace

Its terrific. Ah..In 1970 my favorite albums were by Jerry Jeff Walker and Donovan. (plus an old Jerry Vale LP).. dont laugh.

Ham; ya, I met several bay area Light Show folks (who all seemed on thier last legs) in my night moves w/ Bernardo. Ahh.. Little Egypt 109..or 409??..Ah.. a few others. I carried Danny over to Toy's place and guarded him all night as he slept; (a quirky security issue on his part). Toy had just had her baby and her blade-freak boy-friend wasnt all-too supportive, (or receptive to "Visitors"). I never saw him sit down once. I shrugged it off and Toy & I became like Peas & Carrots. She thought that my guard duty was very gallent. I played Mother to the baby as well as Danny. When he finnaly did arise from the dead, he re-fueled with his weekly bowl of ceareal, we were off and running again. His fine cousin was REALLY down. I mean she was DOWN. Anyway,..I tested myself by holding my own with Danny on a week long STP, DMT, 123, ABC, Speed who knows what run which lead me to fear the daylight (and people)for some time afterward. I finaly broke away & headed for the empty Church St. Apt. & layed an oriental rug down in the kitchen and turned on the gas. It was par for the course. I ended up drying (wringing) out at Weird Harry's on Channing Way in Berserkely, with pit stops at Ed The Head's Shafter Ave. basement in Oakland. "A" and Dildoe were in and out at that time between Pink Floyd concert dates. Ahh.. Ronney Conan (cover name) and Brother Tommy made the sceane, as well as all of the Blvd. India Imports gals. Lotsa free stuff. Trip was doing the Bong (which I always found to Intense).. Im' a mild, passive smoker. Mucho blond Leboneese fingers, etc. I had connected with a young (any other kind) run-a-way girl named Cherry. (dont let the name fool ya'.) Ahh... That had to have been early 73 as I remember the Chemical plant explosion over in Richmond and Lou Reed stiffed a Berkeley Concert date. To earn my keep I hand painted all of Harrys windows, with a Bad Finger No-Dice Theda Barra type Gypsy theme. Then on a whim I thumbed to Florida to reunite with my straight wife who turned me on to liquid valium and sodium pentathol. (dont know if she ever did get the truth outa' me)..???!!!.... Ahh.. Ya' know what Ohio Girl; maybe its best left alone... Hey Nik; is that place Down East like ah.. got a store & post office etc?. Is it a seasonal place?.. or could a man make it year round?. P.S. Where havent' you been? Maybe Im' just 30 years off and just following the trail. (or scent)..ha, ha... Hope all is well. Be back in NYC after V'Day. Ive' pulled out of the rut. Oh; Hey, heres a poem for Bernardo. BOARDING PASS by S.R. Boyd: A forgotten flight of fancy... Surreal and otherwise... We always flew first clas...Im' talkin' the "Friendly Skys". Yet grounded; we often seemed to trudge, never questioning why...getting there was half the fun; such as is life: until we die.

Steve - Yep - Eddie (sp?) was indeed an SF Night Crawler - he was with Bernardo when we first met in Mike's Pool Hall. At the time Eddie had an abcess from doing up C and then missing the shot - but hey he was a tough bird Eddie....Great sense of humor - and then he showed up in the Canyon - You always got in free when you were with Bernardo. He hooked me up with the light-show scene at The Chetah in Santa Monica - (where the 3rd Pg. photo was taken). BTO's indeed..............And yes he did have FED troubles - but they never seemed to bother him - only the rest of us who hung out with him.... Last time I say him - (same as you!) was on Hollywood Blvd. I was driving by and there he was doing that Bernardo walk looking like he had just come from a week long orgy. I gave him a ride to Doheny and that was that - What a great guy...............

Steve, that would be Lubeck, Maine...Baleen's sister was part of a commune that was there, an old whaling port and cannery village. Peter and I visited one winter on the trade route trip...very beautiful, in the winter, pale green lichen on black rocks wet from the steel grey sea with white foam pushing tide lines on yellow sand and hard red holly berries pushing through soft white snow...dark storm clouds moving out to sea...majestic. of course the western most point of the continental US is Petrolia where many digger men and women live now.

Nik; just skimming a bit and came across the reference of someone named Mike who gave the word. Ya, from time to time folks would show an Interest in me and as I was staying to myself for the most part; I always took it as a sign. You know; a link. Anyway,..The "Mike??!!" in question was a photographer who asked to take my photo. Im' not sure If Clyde was in the shot, as he had me "POSE"..( can you believe it?). I didnt' know that they still do that. In any event, it was a serene setting. It was down by the ships. I turned one gal onto the site after she admired the way I had my gear packed prior to down-sizing. That was up in Riverside Park. Then there was a worldly Ex Junkie who was a New Port Gigallo of softs who had mentioned being involved with a production group that had attempted to pull off a film based on one of Emmitts' books. This brought up the Digger thing, which most think is ancient history.

Mouthbreather??!!.. that aint nice. What the hells wrong w/ me? DONT ANSWER THAT. Is it an odd bitterness? Its' strange, but it got me thinkin' of Bernardo. Its all fragmented. Hey, one thing about hitch-hiking w/ him; we got rides pronto; (or was it me?..or was it us?...Im' havin' a real EGO thing here...(whats new)...ahh...Truth is, I always had a scary feeling that Bernardo was one of the unknowns who were dug up south of the border. Hey, if ya' wanna match the voice w/ the face, get a copy of Columbia Record's "The Big Ball". It has a snippet of Bernardo as front man for & BTO's (Boys together often, outragiously, etc).. a splinter of the GTO's "GROUP". Oh, the mouth breather he's with looks damn farmilliar. I was partial to Brown Sugar myself. Seems like yesterday I was breakin op a brick on his kitchen table. I had to get use to the girl thing that Bernardo pulled into his orbit. When we would hit the Carousel Ballroon it was like WOW. He usually got flagged in free; (allong w/ hangers on). I love kitchens. Ahh...Hey, not much time to skim what Ive' missed. Just installed a doorknob, and am working on a sheet-rock cieling. (in between folding clean laundry.) If the Bowery Boys could see me now. In hind-sight I feel like aturd. Everytime he's see me he'd really perk up. I distanced myself from him, as he had FED problems. Last encounter was in West Holywood. I "Had somewhere to go". Damn.

Steve - you were away when I posted this photo of Bernardo and Miss Mercy of the GTO's - http://emptymirrorbooks.com/thirdpage/missmercy_bernardo.html -------- I received this a month or so ago out of the blue from Trulee - and she says she has others - but I have yet to see them. This of course sent me on a Bernardo hunt and via Miss Pamela (deBarres) of the same GTO's - dear Bernardo passed away two years ago. Last name? - Did he have a last name? - Also did you know his running mate Eddy (sp. is incorrect)?

Q. What was Bernardo's Name??...Hey all... just lightly skimmed yer' "Back Pages" and the querie about Bernardo popped up. His name "Was/Is"??!! Bernardo Saltana. His mom was pure blood (Injun from down Mexico way, and his dad was Old School Spannish.) As I may have mentioned before, everytime anyone ever pointed a camera at us, I was in the habit of exposing myself (A Bit) and Bernardo would hide his face. I thought that that was rather odd at the time (as that was/is usually a biker trait).. but then again; my exhibishionistic streak never came into question. (Sign of the times?). Maybe thats why he always hide his face... never thought of that. In short; Bernardo "Walked like a man but smiled like a reptile". I was over-under-sideways-down with him all along the west coast of and on from 1970 to about 75 and through it all never made it with him. It was deeper than that. Much deeper. But then again; everything was deeper then. I loved/love his Lady. His son Triston would be about 34 at this writting. I was with Bernardo and Tennessee Jim in S.F. on the day he was born. Bernardo and I were setting up a big Grass deal through Pheonix if I remember right. He played a bit (alot) with my original birth certificate and was going by my name at the time. So;.. I guess the answer to "What Was Bernardo's Name?" would be: Steven Robert Boyd. (Aint it the way?)

Oh my yes, I'm jes fine. Working, singing, visiting...you know, when we were all on the caravan in the south west, picking peaches on the western slope of the rockies, I had a revelation. I had been thinking about the various women in the family and what they did...Sam was an incredible seamstress, Nina and Joanna phenomenal gardeners, Susan Keyes was a polished writer, Judy a dancer Vicky a researcher and teacher...etc etc and I didn't know what is was that I did...well, on that trip to Paonia I realized what I do best is visit. I mean, that's my vocation...and it's as valid as anything else...of course that was 30 years ago and though I am STILL a visitor I do a few other things now too...btw, when you get back here, please find me...I had you locked up in a cellar at john Asscrofts headquarters for god sake, although we did hear from some guy who'd seen you. What was that saying? - Oh - "When the people lead, the leaders will follow." - Makes sense to me - but - idealism like this never got anyone elected into office did it? Eileen, Yep, I took your explanation of the samurai lesson to heart. In fact, it has been in my thoughts off and on since you posted it. I admit to being of divided energy especially when it comes to the political upheaval. Falling victim to a meaningless media campaign is what I need to look out for. The facts are that the party is really over and there is no sense in getting my shorts in bunch until the election day. Then just vote and encourage others around me to do the same. Meanwhile I need to stand back some. Your correct that these honkies aren't our leaders and we need to carry on that way.....but...the damage being done needs to be fought off in the short term and moving on with the decaying of the established regime by the counterculture as well. Compost the Imperialists!

Mark~You got my little lecture on the samurai stuck in the mud, right? I have this theory we are tricking ourselves out anyway, to keep all our attention on the gov't and less where it would be the most creative..on one another. Lead and the leaders follow. Well, no I can't really see that..but maybe they can be left behind because they are definitely NOT leaders. We can begin to create something rather large if we refocus. This is where I think the whole idea behind the Diggers makes the best illustration of what I am saying and what the fresh breeze Steve has brought in suggests as well. Mark, not doing your art? Perhaps you should try a new medium as I have. It might refresh your inspiration.

Eileen, I know how it goes, I get tossed around quite a bit if I spend too much time on memory lane. Sometimes I don't have a choice and then I have to reach back for some of the old defenses to pull me through. Some of the old tools are a little arthritic and take some coaxing to get into the act meanwhile I feel like hog on spit. It is all in the balance but balancing it very hard at times. Steve does a great job of illustrating the conflict between now and then, makes a person think about how to deal with it. The old call for what can be poured on the fire always comes around and never seems to completely fade away. I remember being told to save the medicinals for when I get old, well the years are adding up and I am not sure of that advice anymore. Maybe later. Self-torment is not on my list of things to do. Going forward is best, but difficult when all seems in high gear reverse these days. I have been stuck in the mud...haven't picked a paint brush in months. I am just trying to wait it out, let it come back on it's own. Headed for bed and hopefully more sun tomorrow.

Hi Guys~Yes Steve you got it right all the way around. Forward! I just get depressed talking the '60. I still struggle to be in the present. No folks I may not be able to stand another round re: "the" book. specially glad you're out of NYC. No place for a sweet wild man like you. The ocean? It's still there and if things are good where you are the trade off is so worth it. So a brief catch up..I was about to slit my throat a few months back thinking about the taste of heroin to ease the pain. But made myself keep moving on. Found out my hormones were off. Good grief who would have figured out but some health psychic. Anyway about the same time discoved weaving. Made several rugs and in the process got in touch with that thing that had moved me to design clothing in the 60-70's and I'm on a roll. Going to local college taking printmaking, art history, ceramics (if my hands hold out) and move weaving. This will go until late May. Then it's open seas..........*

Hey Eric~Are we still not able to use paragraphs here? Running by here quickly. It is I think basic human nature in all of us to want to change things as quickly as possible when uncomfortable if not downright painful. Violence has always been my first thought to course of action under such circumstances. But then it always comes down to who thinks they're right..and ofcourse EVERYONE thinks they're right..and then what? I learned the hard way..which means over and over..open direct action is not always the most effective (as in drive by shootings). Cunning. Got to use your brains and be unpredictable at the very least, to be more than just a moving target. I think the Diggers did that. Ariel and I were talking this morning about the failings of what could be called an experimental community from the "back to the land movement" in Southern Humboldt. To cut to this chase..it has failed. In picking it apart we came to the thoughts were it fell apart due to big pot money creating a lack of need of one another leading to seperation and a rapid breaking down of the initial vision. I think this came about because we were so focused originally in having no rules..therefore no framework for community. No rules that make the individual all important. The added factor there being secrecy. I just wanted to throw this out. I think a whole study could be done on that community as the perfect example of what we got wrong, the the reprocussions to the following generation..which is horrible to the extreme. One way of filtering out what we got right. What did we get right? And whats going to get us through this next round? More barbeques definitely is on the right track! Sorry hope this wan't too much coffee.

Eric, I have the same conflicting reactions. In those days, I rooted for WU out of anger and hatred of the regime that represented our country. The level of violence was everywhere then, on the streets in front of the Oakland Induction Center, the Berkeley campus and Peoples Park, attacks on the Black Panthers, and tear gas, batons, and fire hoses just about anywhere in the country. Even for me, the hard core edge of the vibe at Altamont had something of a existential realization of what we were up against. I think in part the government facilitated the backlash by the methods they used to destroy the left. The attacks by the WU were to be symbolic targets but how long would be if they continued before that selection process changed? There is a part of me now that rages and wants to strike out but I know it has to be channeled to a productive direction. If the regime in the US doesn't change and their agenda moves forward the sparks will fly soon enough. Hopefully, somehow we can avoid that and stay out of the circle of violence that has characterized the American method of conflict resolution. I keep hearing my brain play back that old Frank Zappa song that the street person sings opening the first Digger Film "Trouble Coming Everday".

Hey, everyone... I went and saw The Weather Underground documentary last night. The film was very well done, I understand now why it got an Oscar nomination. However, I'm struggling today with all these strange feelings, almost like the morning after a bad acid trip. It feels like bad karma left unresolved. Walking out of the theater I was thinking, there was something very pure about the WU, at least as the filmmakers portrayed them. Their campaign of bombings directed at the most oppressive American institutions (military, police, prisons, corporations) in the midst of an immoral and illegal war, is in the best tradition of American revolutionary action. (I've been reading "The First American Revolution" -- an eye-opener for anyone who wants to lay claim to Sam Adams and the American colonial revolutionaries.) And still, there's something dark and sinister, irrational, crazed about the WU's actions in the 1970s. The only thought that could rectify this contradiction was that they were following a different path. Not the one the Free Food Family communes were following. We believed in revolution too, but not through violence, one through individuals changing one at a time. That's what the counterculture stood for, I think. The WU must have thought of themselves as the vanguard of the counterculture, but they were deluded. Of course, we were all deluded, that's part of that "bad karma" feeling. There's something we left unfinished back in the 60s and 70s. It still gnaws on our collective soul.

Steve, Cheeseburgers here on the west coast tonight. Cold for us this time of year.....been in the mid fifties for week or so now. I figure if I barbecue hard enough the damn weather will turn. I haven't figured out what I can do hard enough to run these MF's out of the frickin' government either. Had a high temp discussion about the futility of the "political process" with my dear old parents the other day. They hate Bush bad, but put the word anarchy in a sentence somewhere in the conversation and wigs flip. I think the White House should secede from the Union and go it alone, whaddya think? They could relocate it somewhere like Belize and just get it over with. Fire up the hog roasting pit, stick some little paper umbrellas in their martinis, lock and load the artillery banks on the beach and lob missles at passing tankers. Couldn't they be happy with that? We could even help them stuff a bunch of offshore oil wells just outside the shorebreak to pump up the ambiance. Hell, maybe we could put Bush on a Greyhound for a few weeks, that out to do it. Lock him in the head for day or so would be good, get him some of that road trip aromatherapy.

Hey Mark; Steve here; tonight it was Ham Bone & beans, corn bread & butter, spinnach salad and Ice cream w/ angel food cake & cherry pie filling. I earned my beans by supplying digger energy to clear her walk from the blizzard. Bounced out here from the coldest NYC winter in 60 years, so this does seem mild. That first three day NY storm found me ridding the A Train none stop from way uptown all the way out to Far Rockaway. Three days and two nights chuggin' ensure and pissin' in the empty cans. It was right out of the twilight zone. Slept in short intervals.Oh; speaking of ridding.. on a greyhound I met a Native American Poet holy woman. (doncha love when that happens)... anyway, she admired my alarm clock and my winning ways with the child across the Isle. She layed some stories on me and photographed my "Jinx Proof" tattoo. I turned her onto the site. May hear from her soon. She's got the power for sure. I Inadvertantly gave her as well as the M27 sweety my E Mail adress; (which I checked after a few months to find that due to inactivity has been dumping everything).. so I kick started it again. Am jumping to the M27 site now. Back at ya' later. Hey,... aint George a pip!!!

Hey; after months of wlkin' about, I ran into a real joy of alady from the M27 Coalition at a NYC book store and she invited me to a cafe to talk over my involvement in an upcomming action. I was very reseptive and indicated that getting arrested at this point would be a step up the social ladder. ( a career move... as it were)... so any way, we make the date and the big night pops and I find my self in the Mid West instead of that little cafe. Somethins' happnin' here. I think that the "Down Time" has passed. I made it. Will get back into the movement after settling at the Green Point in Brooklyn. Its much more "Bokowski-ish" than the River View. Will keep you posted as to the street action; but only after the fact. Its gonna be real hit & run this time. Watch out George. Oh, ya... fuck you Prez.

Sorry, if you try to cut and paste the URL below it won't work. Not sure why that is but I posted the article on Free City News. I wanted to get it one here because I saw it on the Yahoo news site and then they pulled it off. I searched AP news archives and found it buried there. Here is the first paragraph: Feds Win Right to War Protesters' Records Sat Feb 7, 2:06 PM ET Add Top Stories - AP to My Yahoo! BY RYAN J. FOLEY, Associated Press Writer DES MOINES, Iowa - In what may be the first subpoena of its kind in decades, a federal judge has ordered a university to turn over records about a gathering of anti-war activists. In addition to the subpoena of Drake University, subpoenas were served this past week on four of the activists who attended a Nov. 15 forum at the school, ordering them to appear before a grand jury Tuesday, the protesters said.

Ah... lets see.. I dumped Clyde & scrabled across the hood of a moving car and crassed a run-a-way baby carriage down the side walk. Headed straight for an intersection curb in China town. Hell. Simple mistake. The stroller was covered w/ a plastic form-fitting transparent hood due to the heavey ran. The Chineese cleared the street as there had been n AK 47 shoot out a few days prior. The kid kept poking its little head around and got real terrified. As the rid sped up; it dawned on me that there was no grade (slope) to the street. When the tiny tot high-sided around the corner, I realized that it was a motorized wheel chair. (dont-cha hate when that happens?) I regained my composure. Two dwarfs in china town. What are the odds? Oh... Chineese drivers!??.. two cats from the east hooked clyde w/ thier mirror and drug me down the street between them and the parked cars. Had it not been for the springer front end, it would have drove the forks into the street and blown & bent the rim. I wrestled em' like a bear and kept kickin' the front tire to keep er' forward bound all at about 20 MPH. The cats finnally glanced over and were horrified; (as at that point I was laughin' my ass off) In my mind's eye it couldnt have been staged as well. Tell a stunt man to try it) anyway, I ended up giving Clyde to a coast to coast junkie that I call Black Sullivan. Ahh...I had been considering tossing Clyde into the Hudson; but figured Ide' be next. (I works that way). Ahh.. Rather down; as Ive' been in with the bums who I ran wuith back in 2000 and they are still;.. well, they are just still. (as in Idle). We all have one thing in common; other than gambling, doping, drinking, begging, smoking etc. We all value our time more than money. Im' amazed at the shear volume of friend who are in Liquid Hand-cuffs (methadone). The Lower East Side die-hards (and believe me: they are dying hard); would rather fight that switch. This is the Ol' Peace-Pot-&-Micro Dot crowd. They remember the U.A.W.M.F.'s and all speak "Highley" of Emmitt also. I tend to keep my mouth shut. (remember) Ahh.. lets see. Oh; get this. Most of em' dont remember me from 2000. I had a full beard extra muscle tone and could realy talk. Ahh...As I said, dont feel preagnant; I cut my entire family off; never did make New Hampshire. THis three month quest Ironed me right out. I hurdled the "wall of "Nostalgia" and morphed into the man that I was always meant to be. Oh, the boots. Changed my luck and the boots. Bought a new pair of brown Frye Engineer boots. Im' down to one pair of Levis, 1 pr. wool socks, 1pr cut-off wool sweater sleaves (as leggings, one pendleton wool shirt, 1 cashmere scarf and a navy rain proof pull over. Got an old alarm clock, a coin silver Columbus hunters pocket watch, a small Italian lock blade and more confidence that any man in America. Hey, I get along great w/ the growng central and south Americans in NYC. Hard Time? We dont know the meaning. Any way, my editor friend has urged me to start writting. Ive' weened myself from booze which was a real temptation; as in Tribecka you can skim the trash for empty top shelf jugs and pour cap full after cap full of fire water and get smashed by the fifth block. (Ya gotta hold up yer' little finger while tippin')... that way the cops only smile. Try gettin' that hint from Helouese. Later all. Hi Rena baby. Hey Nik & all.

Today I felt like all of you, having that grinding, sinking feeling seeing video of that 11 year old being led away. I just can't grasp the depth of the failure of our species sometimes. I am a father of girls but it goes much deeper than that, the sadness is very hard. I could cry out but it won't help.| Also today I received this post, the rest of the article is long so I will get it on the Free City News as the NY Times requires you sign up before you can access there website.| A Berkeley Lecture on Power's Limits, by an Expert http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/06/national/06BERK.html By DEAN E. MURPHY Published: February 6, 2004 BERKELEY, Calif., Feb. 5 — If the life of Robert S. McNamara is a series of unfinished circles, one of the biggest ones was closed here Wednesday night. Mr. McNamara, the defense secretary in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, fielded questions from center stage in a packed auditorium at his alma mater, the University of California, Berkeley, for the first time since graduating in 1937. Under the glare of bright lights, Mr. McNamara, 87, faced an audience of graying hippies, men with Vietnam draft lottery numbers still imprinted in their minds and an assortment of 1960's radicals who had devoted the better part of their youths opposing him. Mr. McNamara's son, Craig, a walnut farmer who had joined protests here against his father's war, came to listen, as did Daniel Ellsberg, the one-time government official who in 1971 leaked a top-secret report commissioned by Mr. McNamara on American involvement in Southeast Asia. But instead of angry exchanges, there was applause and nods of sympathy from Mr. Ellsberg and many of the others, as Mr. McNamara, his voice pitched and his ballpoint pen jabbing in the air, spoke pointedly about the lessons of war. "We human beings killed 160 million other human beings in the 20th century," he said. "Is that what we want in this century? I don't think so." Though he appeared on stage with Errol Morris, whose Academy Award-nominated documentary film, "The Fog of War," is based on interviews with Mr. McNamara, this was a solo act by an old man with something urgent to say.

Jag~Knowing nothing of todays news, that is more than enough info. Must have been in the air..was thinking as I was driving, all the horror stories that keep being added to the list just of folks I know, talking about how they grew up. Not to mention what is going on ever too close at home. Nothing seems easy any more. And reading the paper has become a Steven King nightmare. It's gotten so I want to put my hands up and say STOP don't tell me! It makes me wonder how people like my daughter, who works often with the worst case teens and inmates, as a therapist or an evaluator..how does she sleep at night much less fuction during the day? But at this point how do any of us stay conscious? And how do we deal with such an overload of terrible knowledge? Give me a smoke, a drink, a drug and a lot of TV? Call to God/dess? Is there something outside ourselves that mend the broken? All I can do is battle to keep my own head above water and not add to the misery. I keep seeing more notes and messages from the '60s. From the days we were seeing God and having visions of a better way of living. Love Life, kept floating up yesterday. It is currently my mantra.

I saw the news today, oh boy! Thought I'd become jaded and cynical, immune to tragedy and pathos. The sight of that child. That eleven year old never to turn twelve. Her abductors' tattoo’s writhing up his forearm’s while he takes her wrist and leads her to an indescribable fate. Thought I’d stopped letting the depravity bother me. Thought I’d pushed the pain of others down to a secret hideaway in my psyche. That such brutality can walk among us is a chilling thought. No hell is good enough for such a deed. I prayed when I first saw the video, prayed that this would not end the way it did. Prayed to who? To what? I haven’t a clue. I just reacted. Just a reflex learned as a child. A child much like her. To no avail apparently. Now I remember why I sought solace from the pain in chemicals that contained a special pain of there own.

Rena~I saw in the Hawaii Tribune-Herald yesterday the military is about ("proposing") to buy 25,000 acres on the west side of the Big Island this yr and "fix" the Saddle Gap road so traffic can cross the island easier. Also the methanfedimine controll and rehab moneys have been cut back by 8.5 and some freak wants to legalize their church's use of pot? Could things get any weirder over there? I think so!! The trade off apparently is more money in the schools? but cutting back agricultural dept. What the heck? Have I got this all right? Yeah and there's more money being waved around. Now we know why they so graciously gave up the island they TOOK for military purposes. Oh such snakes!! Now we get to see if the HAwaiian solidarity movement is solid enough to keep the islands from being turned inside out to the gov'ts military tune. No this is not making me very happy.

Really interesting link by Mr Shand, I have heard of Mugabe's reign of terror in Zimbabwe and his appropriation of white farmers land, ostensibly to give to poor blacks but in reality to further his political hold on the goverment. Mugabe was considered the savior of "Rhodesia" in the seventies when he led the revolt against the white ruling class but since then he has degenerated into a petty tyrant who refuses to relinquish the reins of power.

Hammond, congrats. I'm looking forward to when you can tell us about it...will you do a NYC reading? ... Did you happen to read Mark Monford(?) yesterday in the Chronicle, www.sfgate.com , it was so spot on...about sending the message out to kids...paraphrased, "oh yeah, a womans brest is out of line, however homoerotic NFL headbashing, viagra, viagra, viagra, and some guy fetishly licking his SUV, ball biting dogs, and a elderly couple beating eachother up over a bag of chips..." just to name a few...yeah, take another ritalin or paxil dear and just go to sleep. I didn't like any of the half time show, it was way too busy, dis jointed and quite frankly not at all entertaining, to me, bunch of crap really, to me, however Beyonce sang the hell out of the Star Spangled Banner...one of the best versions yet...however, there were side bets at the pub where I watched the game, whether she (beyonce) would be dressed classy or sluty...It's amazing the energy spent on that the whole business. Silly really...but as you say...it's a mere distraction to the real issues at hand...OH OH my conspiritorial side is raising it's head...no Nicole, they didn't orchestrate it on purpose to slide their uptight values into place...get your feet back on the ground girl, go eat or something...okay, I'm better now...later.

Mark - Nic, thanks for the links - great material - great minds - great photos........Ohio Girl - -speaking of "meaningless" did you read my last CP bit? ------"Investigating the Meaningless" [ revisited ] - http://www.counterpunch.org/guthrie02032004.html The overwhelming response (the most saught after event on the web in internet history) to Janet's [hardly inadvertant] exposure is so indicative of just how easily the general public's (and the media's) attention is diverted from investigating life threatening and life affirming issues of the moment. The average attention span just doesn't reach the other side of the great water - the bridge to understanding our world - and then actually doing something about it has been replaced by pierced flesh and glitzy S/M gear in the blink of an eye. - Only in America folks - Europeans for instance would have laughed in the moment - and then back to the business of real life...Like openly keeping their leaders in check and protesting the US/UK WAR IN IRAQ - just for starters........ Now I am jut blathering on (stop)........ Peace and Harmony to one and all - H. ....PS ---- [inally in the final final daze of completing my first screenplay. Janet Jackson just exposed the "tip" of the iceberg of meaningless news coverage, when they should indeed be investigating the meaninglessness of those priceless quotations out of Washington. Why do reality bachelor TV shows get news coverage and lots of it? Why are these shows considered to be news, did people forget they are NOT REAL?? The government is real, unfortunately, as least I think it's real. Oh well my husband isn't into sports but he did truly enjoy the superbowl this time so I guess that's worth something! Peace

I don't know about S Ca but I know Humboldt County has been experimenting for yrs with combining all varieties of cops, and want to be cops, into their own Gestapo. We are quite familiar with the police state there. I am not being sarcastic or exaggerating. The growers and tree hungers have been facing the brunt of it for yrs with little if any restraint. It is hard to convey how frightening and the seriousness of what it was like to live with. Everyone has assumed all along that it was to see what they could do and get away with and it would sooner or later become the modis operendi (sp?) widespread. The courts here have been very sympathic to big business (timber) and have fought hard against growers and the local laws. Even Fish and Game and the Park service are more like cops. We're dancing on the edge here.

FYI; The State of California is also "looking: into creating a "United" police force, ie; Highway Patrol, Governmental Guard, Forest Ranger all rolled into one. Possibly even a total "California Police Authority" where all police agencies funnel into, and awnser to Giant Police State. And this is California. This would include the penal systems as well. Big Brother is grouping.

Oscar-Nominated Film To Show At Humboldt http://www.eurekareporter.com/Stories/cm-02020405.htm 2/2/04 Mark Rudd, former National Secretary of Students for a Democratic Society and a founder of the Weathermen, together with filmmaker Sam Green will speak after the showing of The Weather Underground on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room at Humboldt State University. Rudd will hold private meetings with community organizers on the question of violence and nonviolence in revolutionary movements. Both events have been organized by Network or Resistance. Sam Green's new film, The Weather Underground, which played at the Arcata Minor Theater in September, had such great attendance it was held over for two weeks. The feature-length documentary, just nominated for an Oscar, explores the rise and fall of the Weathermen. In this film, former Weathermen members speak candidly about the idealistic passion that drove them to "bring the war home" and the trajectory that placed them on the FBI's most-wanted list."I had always been frustrated growing up in the 1980s and 1990s that young people weren't that political. There was something about the story that I felt was inspiring in a complex way. …" Green said. Thirty years ago, Rudd and the Weathermen broke away from S.D.S., the largest U.S. organization of radical students in the 1960s, and announced its intention to overthrow the U.S. government. The Weather Underground bombed at least 20 targets in the United States, including the Pentagon and the White House and evaded one of the largest FBI manhunts in history. "We tried legal protest, and we did it for years, and it didn't work," Rudd said. "And more and more people were being killed, and the government was becoming more and more repressive at home. So we turned to violence as a necessity, because nothing else was working." Information and photos of The Weather Underground film available at www.upstatefilms.org/weather/. .

Check this out from todays NY Times...a "different" sort of digger By NEIL STRAUSS Published: February 2, 2004 ARTICLE TOOLS E-Mail This Article Printer-Friendly Format Most E-Mailed Articles Reprints & Permissions Single-Page Format ` READERS' OPINIONS Forum: Join a Discussion on Popular Music TIMES NEWS TRACKER Topics Alerts Music Washington (DC) Carol T. Powers for The New York Times Dori Hadar, left, and Frank Beylotte with Mr. Hadar's record collection, including records he has found at flea markets and thrift shops. ASHINGTON, Jan. 30 — The term diggers applies to those obsessed souls who dig through cardboard boxes and milk crates at flea markets and thrift stores in search of rare record albums. And according to the unwritten bylaws of diggers, the location at which any vinyl treasure is discovered is strictly confidential. This is a way of protecting one's turf, even if that turf is just a dust-covered wasteland of hand-me-downs. So it shall be that the location of one of the greatest digger discoveries of our time must remain a secret. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/02/arts/music/02MIKE.html?th

Claude - Humm... well, there are any number of G/G on the market now - but orig. I think there were only 2 official releases (and then came others) - but how many G/G sessions? Lord - many many - but the set of concerts that preceded the orig, CD Grateful Dawg release (3 evenings I think - and all at the Warfield - I think). A tried and true tapper would know at the drop of a hat (I started to say "tab") - ah the daze eh? Try the Deadbase folks who calibrate the official memory bank. Like does anyone know how many times he sang: "What's Become of the Baby?" on stage? - They know.....

Hey everyone, Thought I'd check in. Caught Rickie Lee Jones and band at the Orangepeel here in Asheville Friday night.Taj Mahal played Saturday night could,nt afford both so flipped a coin. The club had a new years deal where you got 2 for 1 tickets all through January. My how Rickie Lee has continued to improve with age. She has one of the most interesting faces in the world. When she smiles she lights up like a Holy Jack-O-Lantern. Great jams by the band.Jazzy and funky. My moms doing better.Almost back to her mean ol' fiesty self. Welcome to the new folks. PEACE, PATRICK
