Abstract
1:3/27. [No ComCo imprint] Lft, 5 loose sheets, nos. 2-5 are numbered 1-4. 1/c, 3/26/67. HAIGHT-ASHBURY NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL | 1790 Haight Street | Cover letter and statement of concern regarding events of Easter Week. (From Statement of Concern: "Haight-Ashbury is a state of mind as well as a geographical area. Almost accidentally, the area itself has become a focus of international attention because the neighborhood is to a degree unique in its cosmopolitan character, its congenial climate, its tolerance of diverse peoples and life styles.") Last page has list of people signing the statement, including James Browne, the President of H.A.N.C., Enola Maxwell (an at-large Board member), Mrs. Sue Bierman and Maurice Englander (both committee chairmen). There are 14 names. Place where the statement (presumably) was drafted is listed as "The Hearth" | Howard Presbyterian Church, Oak & Baker Streets. [Five sheets are gathered together with a plastic paper clip.]
